SHAKESPEARE to the Wirral
NESS GARDENS brings SHAKESPEARE'to the Wirral

Ness Gardens will take you back to Elizabethan times, on Saturday 26th July, by hosting a production of 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' written by William Shakespeare.

Legend has it that Queen Elizabeth I so loved the character of Falstaff, the fat bawdy knight, that she asked Shakespeare to write a play in which he falls hopelessly in love. Shakespeare being Her Majesty's loyal subject, duly obliged-but being Shakespeare he wasn't content to do things by halves. He wrote a play in which Falstaff falls in love not once but TWICE- at the same time, with two women who are actually best friends. The Result is THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR.

Multiple international award-winning IILLYRIA perform Shakespeare at his most boisterous and farcical, the performance will take place within the Gardens, with the gates open at 6.00pm, performance starting at 7.00pm, bring along a picnic & low back seating to enjoy the fantastic evening , in a spectacular setting as the stage backdrop.

Adults £12, Children £7 (3-16yrs) tickets available from 0151 353 012

In addition to this performance, the extended open air theatre season is enhanced with the internationally renowned Illyria also performing 'Pinocchio' on Saturday 23rd August and 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' on Saturday 6th September.
