Posh and Becks Come Home to Roost at Tatton!
Tatton Park has seen its fair share of celebrity visitors over the years. But it's not often that Posh and Becks drop in for a visit. In fact the preening pair have again set up home in Cheshire - this time in the Parkland at this historic estate. Unfortunately, Tatton's Posh and Becks are of a more feathered variety. These celebrity lovebirds are a pair of beautiful mute swans who recently built a nest on the lagoon at Melchett Mere and have just hatched four adorable cygnets (three of which are named, inevitably: Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz). The swans' nest is in a very public location near the lagoon on Melchett Mere. All visitors arriving along Knutsford Drive have a perfect view of the fabulous family enjoying the attention and the paparazzi-pleasing location. Ranger Gary Cross commented "They have been causing quite a stir. The area can get a bit jammed up with traffic so if you are coming to see the swans, it is best to park and walk there on foot. And then you can spend a lot longer enjoying them." This is the second year that the swans have nested on Melchett Mere. Mute swans mate for life and this pair obviously loved the spot so much that they have returned again this year. At the moment their main concern will be nurturing their new brood and protecting them from predators such as mink and fox. Their progress will be monitored by the Cheshire Swans Group throughout the season. Rangers expect the swans to stay on this site for a number of months. This is the perfect opportunity to see such beautiful wild birds, up close. Gary commented "They are really quite tame and love the limelight, just like their famous namesakes!". Never mind Brangelina and the South of France, the hot new destination for celebrity childbirth has got to be Tatton Park! The Parkland at Tatton is open daily from 10am-7pm (last entry 6pm). Park Entry, £4.50 per car. |
