Blooming Marvels
At Tatton's Home Farm

Blossom is blooming, Rosie is rapturous and Tallulah is tickled pink. There is an air of expectancy at Tatton's Home Farm with the prospect of the patter of tiny hooves over coming months.

This Tatton trio are the figureheads for the Home Farm Animal Adoption Scheme and for the first time, all three are expecting!

The Mums-to-be are star attractions at the Farm and were specially chosen last year as the 'faces' behind the newly launched Animal Adoption Scheme. The Farm received Rare Breed accreditation in 2007 for the significant part it plays in conserving a number of Rare Breed Farm animals (one of only 16 in the country to receive this recognition). The adoption scheme aids the continuation of this essential work.

And now these three friends will be adding to the Tatton Rare Breed family. Blossom, a Clydesdale mare is expecting her third foal in May. Her first two, Jubilee Jester and Tatton Talisman were born in 2006 and 7. Tallulah, a Tamworth pig, is expecting her first litter in early March with her new 'beau' Titan. Rosie, a Red Poll cow is also expecting her very first calf in May with the father Knepp Fantastic.

Staff at the Farm have been busy keeping the flowering threesome comfortable and content. Jayne Chapman, Farm Co-ordinator commented 'they have been getting lots of treats - carrots for Blossom and Rosie and tummy tickles for Tallulah. They have all treated their pregnancies like real naturals and are looking forward to being Mums!'

The animals have all been preparing themselves for their 'big day' and have enjoyed being out in the paddock during the spell of warmer weather. Just one thing left to decide, is it pink or blue for the piggery?

For more information about the animal adoption scheme visit www.tattonpark.org.uk or call 01625 374400. The Farm is open weekends until March 14th. During High Season from March 15th the Farm will be open Tuesday to Sunday from 12pm-5pm (last entry 4pm).
